hi i just started playing guild wars im currently on the trial edition , i like to know whether when i upgrade my account whetehr i can continue my existing trial character or do i have to make a new one.

Of course. You just need to input the retail serial into your account.

You can (and should) add any retail keys you get, to your current account. You can then continue to play your "trial" character(s).
